Spring in Moldova Small Group Tour 2024

Day 1 - Arrival to Chisinau

(3rd May 2024)

Our guide and driver will meet you at the airport. After check-in at your 4 star hotel in the centre, you have free time to enjoy your first explore of Chisinau.

Day 2 - Milestii Mici Winery - Chisinau - Old Orhei

(4th May 2024)

After breakfast you'll visit (no tasting included) the world famous Moldovan Cellars - Milestii Mici. Measuring about 200 km, all underground streets make up the largest network of caves, which appeared after the extraction of limestone deposits. The winery holds an impressive collection of more than 2 million bottles.

After the tour we return to Chisinau. This afternoon, we continue sightseeing in Chisinau with a city tour. It includes: The Central Park and the Alley of Moldovan literature classics, the monument of Steven the Great and Saint, Great National Assembly Square, the Triumph Arch, the 'Nativity' Cathedral, the Organ Hall etc.

After exploring Chisinau we drive on to Old Orhei and check in to the Eco Resort Butuceni. If available, take part in some traditional Easter activities. Traditional dinner.

Day 3 - Easter traditions at Curchi Monastery & Old Orhei

(5th May 2024)

In the morning we will go to enjoy the Easter atmosphere at Curchi Monastery, which is a real pearl of our religious life. Here you'll visit some churches, and among them - the 'Virgin's Assumption' Cathedral, built by the drawings of genius architect Bartolomeo Rastelli.

Back to Old Orhei. No trip to Moldova is complete without a visit to Orheiul Vechi (Old Orhei) - an Open-Air Museum Complex, which is 'arguably Moldova's most fantastic sight'. Here we will visit an Orthodox cave monastery called 'St. Maria Dormata' expanded and modified inside the cliffs by the monks over the centuries and preserved in a functional state. Accommodation at Eco Resort Butuceni and Easter traditional dinner.

Day 4 - Frumoasa - Palanca - Mircesti

(6th May 2024)

Start the day with a visit to Frumoasa Monastery and continue to 'Parents House' Craft Centre from Palanca village, where you will get to know the Moldovan traditional costumes and ethnographic customs. You will be served with organic herbal tea, accompanied by homemade jams, which will surprise you with their amazing taste. Later in the afternoon we shall stop to Crama Mircesti, where we will check in to our accommodation. This winery has become a role model in Moldova, mainly thanks to the modern approach to wine production. Before touring on the premises of the winery we shall hike through the vineyard to the meteorological station and enjoy the nice view. Wine tasting and dinner.

Day 5 - Mircesti - Soroca - Chateau Vartely

(7th May 2024)

After breakfast at Mircesti Winery we will drive to Soroca where we will visit a medieval Fort, which is a unique monument of defensive architecture of Europe. Then we'll drive to the Roma' district of Soroca made famous by its 'Posh' palaces, where you will have a possibility to meet a Roma family, talk to them and admire their house. Afterwards, we will travel to Chateau Vartely where we will also overnight. Wine tasting included. Chateau Vartely is one of Moldova's newest wineries. They produce a range of fine wines that have obtained a considerable amount of appreciators all over the world. Independent dinner.

Day 6 - Chateau Vartely - Transnistria

(8th May 2024)

Next we invite you to discover Transnistria - where the old USSR is still alive and doing well. It is a breakaway territory within the internationally recognized borders of Moldova, which still retains the look of a Communist state and it's called 'the last remaining Stalinist dictatorship in Europe'. City tour of Tiraspol and visit to Noul Neamt Monastery and Bender Fortress: an impressive fortress built by the Turks in 16th century and the place where in 1713 Charles XII of Sweden had taken refuge after his defeat in the Battle of Poltava. Accommodation in a 4 star hotel in Tiraspol.

Day 7 - Tiraspol - Chateau Purcari - Chisinau

(9th May 2024)

Today we invite you to the celebration of Victory Day - the 9th of May - the day declared by the Soviets as the end of the Second World War. It's a truly unique and perhaps, for some, surreal atmosphere.

Our next wine adventure is at Purcari winery, where not only wine is the star of the show, but also the chateau's royal-like interiors and Hi-Tech approach. We will take a tour of the winery and enjoy some tasting. Back to Chisinau. Check in to your hotel and some free time before our special farewell dinner at a local wine bar.

Day 8 - End of the tour

(10th May 2024)

Transfer to Chisinau airport for your flight home. Goodbye Moldova and thank you for the fabulous memories!
