More people are choosing not to fly for their holidays and vacations abroad. Driven by the urgent need to reduce our carbon footprint in the fight against climate change and also to emphasise the joy of travelling at a slower pace, experiencing people and places along the way.
We embrace this wholeheartedly and have personally travelled to several of our destinations from the UK by train, ferry and car over the years.
Recently, we worked closely with our first UK client who wanted a holiday in Lithuania without flying - thank you to them for being pioneers on this new tour! How they travelled to/from the Baltics is detailed below as an example, but where you choose to visit when you get there is completely up to you.

Stage 1 - Depart London by train
Train from London to Hanover
Your train tickets will have been pre-purchased and your seats reserved. Choose from standard class travel or Business Premier on Eurostar and First Class on national railway services. Times to be confirmed for your departure date.
Overnight accommodation in Hanover for one night in a recommended and well-located hotel.
(Your route may differ depending on your travel dates and if you have somewhere specific you would like to visit. We can discuss all the options.)
Stage 2 - Hanover to Warsaw by train
Train from Hanover to Warsaw
Your train tickets will have been pre-purchased and seats reserved. You can choose from standard class or first class for your train travel. Travel times will be confirmed when available.
Upon arrival at Warsaw train station, our driver will meet you in the arrivals hall and drive you to your hotel. Accommodation in Warsaw at one of our recommended hotels. You can stay here for one night, or longer and enjoy a guided tour of the city or a day trip out of town - please discuss this with us.
Stage 3 - Warsaw to Vilnius by train
Train from Warsaw to Vilnius
Your train tickets will have been pre-purchased and your seats reserved (in standard or first-class depending on your preference). Times will be confirmed for your travel dates.

Stage 4 - Klaipeda to Kiel by ferry
Ferry travel from Klaipeda to Kiel
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the ferry port. If leaving from Lithuania this will be Klaipeda, in Latvia Riga, and in Estonia, Tallinn. Your tickets will have been pre-purchased and your cabin reserved for your overnight ferry crossing from Klaipeda to Kiel. We will discuss what cabin you prefer and whether to pre-book meals or any extras.
Stage 5 - Kiel to London by train
Train travel from Kiel to London
Upon arrival at Kiel port, you will disembark the ferry and should take a local taxi service to the train station. Your train tickets will have been pre-purchased and seats reserved as per your preferences. Times to be confirmed for your travel dates. Welcome home after your no-fly holiday adventures in the Baltic region!

No-fly holiday to Lithuania
Overall we had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience in terms of the mode of travel, accommodation and sightseeing. Everything worked extremely well. All our walking tours were good and we especially enjoyed asking our local guides about their and their families’ experiences during communist times. Thank you for organising this trip for us. We are very happy to recommend this mode of travel to and from the Baltics.
